    Fargo

    As this quirky anthology drama series inspired by the Oscar-winning Coen brothers movie returns for its fourth season with a two-hour premiere, the setting shifts to 1950 Kansas City, Mo., marking the first season in which the show doesn't take place mainly in Minnesota or the Dakotas. Chris Rock heads the cast as Loy Cannon, head of a crime syndicate made up largely of black migrants fleeing the Jim Crow South of the era. Jason Schwartzman, Ben Whishaw, Timothy Olyphant, Uzo Aduba, Jack Huston and Glynn Turman also star.

    The Simpsons

    Season 32 of this satirical animated comedy sends up a certain reality series on another network in the season premiere "Undercover Burns," which finds Mr. Burns (voice of Harry Shearer) going undercover at the nuclear power plant as "Fred," a new employee. Much to his surprise, Homer (voice of Dan Castellaneta) and the gang make him feel welcome, and soon "Fred" is putting in new amenities to please his new chums. That doesn't sit well with the jealous Smithers (Shearer again), however. Guest voices include David Harbour ("Stranger Things") and Phil Rosenthal (as himself).

    Art imitates life in the new episode "Debate Prep," which premieres just two days before President Donald Trump and his Democratic challenger, former Vice President Joe Biden, face off in their first presidential debate. With that high-stakes appearance looming, Cartoon Trump (voice of Jeff Bergman) must learn to behave like a civilized human being, coached by Cartoon Kellyanne Conway (voice of Jennifer F. Jackson) and Cartoon Mitch McConnell (voice of William Sadler). Meanwhile, Cartoon Jill Biden reminds Cartoon Joe Biden (Bergman again) to think before he speaks.

    This funny, character-driven animated comedy about a Southern family opens its sophomore season with a premiere called "Violet's Secret," which finds Violet (voice of Jillian Bell) stubbornly resolved to keep her new job a secret from Jenny and Betty (voices of Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph), her mother and grandmother. Unfortunately, her unexplained comings and goings soon drive both older women nuts, since all they can do is imagine the terrible teenage trouble Violet no doubt is getting into.

    This Emmy-winning animated comedy series returns for Season 11, which will include the show's 200th-episode milestone. Another episode in this season's rotation somewhat eerily involves a school epidemic, although it was written and in production before the coronavirus pandemic shut down much of the entertainment industry. H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman and Kristen Schaal return to voice the Belcher family; new and returning guest voices this season include Megan Mullally, Zach Galifianakis, Jenny Slate and Sarah and Laura Silverman.

    While the audience is used to hearing Stewie (voice of Seth MacFarlane) speaking in erudite Ivy League tones, in the world of the show's characters, he's still a baby who can't be understood by his grown-up human family members. In the season premiere, "Stewie's First Word" -- also the show's milestone 350th episode -- the little boy hits that developmental milestone, but his first word of choice is filthy. Shunned by other moms, Lois (voice of Alex Borstein) tries to figure out where Stewie picked up that obscenity.
